This site is run by LILY.G, a pen name, from the United Kingdom. This page explains what personal information the site collects, why, who handles it, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). If you have a question, use the contact form.

Who’s responsible

The author who writes as LILY.G is responsible for your personal information (the “data controller”). You can reach us through the contact form.

What we collect

• Readers list. Your email address, your first name if you give it, and your confirmation that you’re 18 or over. We use them only to send you news about LILY.G’s books.
• Contact form. Your name, email address and message, so we can read it and reply.
• Confessions. The line you write, and nothing else. It’s anonymous: we don’t ask for your name or email, so please don’t include anything that identifies you or anyone else.
• What your browser remembers. Your browser keeps a note that you’ve confirmed you’re 18 before reading a sample, and that you’ve seen the privacy tip. This stays on your device. We don’t use tracking or advertising cookies.
• Server logs. Like any website, our host records basic technical information, such as IP addresses, to keep the site running and secure.

Our legal basis

• Readers list: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing; every email has a link.
• Contact form: our legitimate interest in replying to messages you choose to send us.
• Server logs: our legitimate interest in keeping the website running and secure.

Who handles it

We use a few services to run the site. They handle your information on our behalf, under contract, and not for their own purposes:

• Kit runs the readers list and sends our emails.
• Sanity stores the site’s content, including confessions and contact-form messages.
• Vercel hosts the website.

Some of these services are based in the United States, so your information may be transferred there. When it is, it’s protected by safeguards recognised under UK law. We never sell your information or share it with anyone else.

How long we keep it

• Readers list: until you unsubscribe.
• Messages: for as long as we need to reply, then we delete them.
• Confessions: they’re anonymous, so we can’t link one back to you. Those that go on the wall stay on the site.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy to take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To make a request, use the contact form. We’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact us.

This site and its books are for readers 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
